Here at Aiscorp we love new and cool things! In fact, each Friday we have a section in our company meeting called "New and Cool", where we share something new in our lives, a cool story or new and cool tech we have stumbled across.

In fact, each Friday we have a section in our company meeting called "New and Cool Things", where we share something new in our lives, a cool story or new and cool tech we have stumbled across.
In our Friday Meetings we have talked about funny things we did in the week, Elmar's new drones, something tricky that one of the team has coded, how many pets collectively Aiscorp staff have, new Education toys Gil is showing at his schools and many more fun and random things.
In this blog post we have gathered a few of our favourite technologies that we have found to be pretty cool so far.
Launched earlier last month by Microsoft, Windows 11 has a bunch of new front-end features including a new floating start menu, new action menu (which feels like you're looking at your smart phone!), and our Help Desk Engineer's favourite part - Support of Android apps in the new Microsoft Store! - (for all his Tik Tok dances) 😉
Another Aiscorp favourite is the Microsoft Teams Chat feature on the task bar and the (dare I say... Apple-like) gesture controls which means when working on your laptop you can increase productivity by working smarter with three and four-finger swipes (how fun!).
Anyway, we are still testing Windows 11 to see how it works with different legacy applications, specific configurations and other updates but it is definitely something to be excited about - we are!
"It's quick and it has a nice modern aesthetic look that makes Windows 10 look old"
- Elliot, Aiscorp Support Desk Engineer (aka Help Desk Guru in Progress)
We have actually had one of these Flip TV's in our main Meeting Room for months now and we are obsessed!
You can quickly and easily connect to it straight from your device through your Wi-Fi or use the trust HDMI port hidden around the back. Or skip the device all together and use the built-in browser! Picture and Audio is clear and the touch functions are one of the most accurate we have found while testing touch TV's.
It works great with the Microsoft teams whiteboard feature as it has a strong built-in whiteboard feature.
We show it off in every meeting we can and use it every Monday for our staff "Rhythm of Business" meetings. You can use saved templates, send your whiteboard notes and screenshots to your email address or straight to the printer. We've made ours cooler by adding a complimenting Poly Conferencing unit with speakers and a tracking camera!
When we are back in Level One feel free to come over, have a coffee, chat and draw some cool designs on our Samsung Flip TV!
Our PLD facilitator and Education Account Manager Gil is a big fan of the new Microsoft Teams feature "Reading Progress".
Reading Progress allows Teachers to easily set students reading tasks where they read text on-screen while recording themselves. It provides teachers feedback on the student's progress and is a fun way to involve all students at different reading levels in the same task.
Artificial Intelligence in Teams analysis the students pronunciation, grammar and fluency to save teacher time. It highlights student's individual areas of focus that need work.
Reading Progress helps students be more independent with their reading tasks and enables them to watch their video to self-correct, supporting student agency.
Check out this YouTube Video on how it works:
Have you ever broken a device out of warranty that is just too expensive or complex to fix? We feel ya! It pains us to quote you ridiculous prices to fix your device, and sometimes we tell you it is just not worth it. It is pricey and hard to fix, sometimes it is just easier for you to buy a new one. This is just not reasonable for anyone - or the environment! Too much IT waste is just thrown in the bins because of the "too hard" or "too expensive" basket.
Our Technical Account Engineer's are impressed with Apples new initiative to make fixing their products more affordable to the everyday person!
They are making it easier and cheaper to repair your Apple devices, it's already rolled out to various countries through their Independent Repair Provider Program - how good!
We don't have specific details on how this works in NZ just yet but keep an eye on our social media accounts because no doubt we will be too excited not to post more!
“When a customer needs a repair, we want them to have a range of options that not only suits their needs but also guarantees safety and quality so their iPhone can be used for as long as possible.”
- Jeff WIlliams, Apple Chief Operating Officer
